Hey there! I'm Suyane Ribas, the creator soul behind this little studio.
I was born and raised on a small island in the south of Brazil called Florianopolis. In 2018, at 21 years of age, I migrated to Australia in search of new adventures and growth.
The year was 2020 and I was unhappy with my job. I was having anxiety attacks, feeling stressed and I was not taking any time for myself.
Being quite a spiritual person, I asked my angels to guide me on a new path.
When I moved to a new home, the signs were clear and obvious that my future was in ceramics. I started a 6-week course on the wheel at the local studio and that’s when I fell in love and my direction in life was set.
Soon after, I became a member of that studio for almost a year. However, my desire to create led me to convert the spare room at home into a pottery studio, including with my first wheel!
While experimenting with clay, I went through a profound process of self-discovery. Little by little, I rescued an ability from my ancestry, to use my hands to create something beautiful. Making pottery is my therapy, while I was modelling my pieces, I learned to shape this new version of “me”.
In February 2023, my art took on a new direction. I found my pottery mentor, a generous soul who encouraged me to create, while offering valuable guidance.
As a kid, I loved creating new things. I've always been passionate about vibrant colors, and I express that in my pieces: from colorful mugs to vases with imperfect shapes.
On 23 May 2023, with fears and insecurities, I signed the contract that marked the beginning of a new era. Temple Clay was born: a place where the passion for ceramics melds with the desire for self-expression. A safe space for bringing the brightest ideas to life.
I thank each and every one of you for being part of this journey. Together, we will shape dreams in clay and illuminate the most beautiful parts of ourselves. The adventure has only just begun!
